Today, I received a phone call from one of our neighbors adult-daughter. She was calling to add more meals for her mom each week. Her mom was only receiving one meal each week, and she was concerned about her mom not getting enough nutrition. She shared, “My mom loves the meals. She really appreciates having someone bring the meal to her door and share a couple of minutes of conversation. My mom is concerned about the cost, but she’s not paying for them. Because I am paying for them, I want her to get a meal each day. That way I know she’s eating and gaining strength.”

I always enjoy talking with our neighbor’s caregivers. It never ceases to amaze me how much they appreciate our Meals on Wheels program. It provides peace of mind for them as they know there is a caring volunteer knocking on the door and checking on their loved one. I know for many caregivers they view Meals on Wheels as more than just a meal. If you know someone that is need of meals, please don’t hesitate to call us, as we would be glad to see how we can help.
